Combined heat and power units are known for supplying heat to heat consumers. According to the invention, a heat pump is additionally provided whose compressor can be driven via a disengageable clutch (6) by the current generator, which is designed as an asynchronous motor (5), and whose condenser (9) is installed in the waste heat circuit of the heat engine. The clutch (4) between the heat engine and the asynchronous motor is also releasable, so that the asynchronous motor can be coupled either to the heat engine or to the heat pump or to both simultaneously.
