The rotation speed of externally-energised DC motors, to the extent that they are used for driving model railways, is regulated precisely, at a low cost in terms of equipment, in such a manner that the generated armature voltage is measured in the time intervals between the DC pulses which are applied to the motor armature (2), and is compared in a comparator circuit (6) with a required value (7). The comparison result is used to energise a trip circuit (8, 10, 11) which causes the subsequent DC voltage pulse to be fed to the motor armature. <IMAGE>
