PURPOSE:To obtain a composite cast iron member having high resistance to abrasion and high toughness by using spheroidal graphite cast iron for a base material, padding one layer of mild steel or the like thereon, and performing padding with deep penetration until the wall thickness of deposited metal and the depth of penetration into the base material metal attain specific values. CONSTITUTION:Spheroidal graphite cast iron is used as a base material, and mild steel or filler metal or alloy powder contg. metal that forms carbide of high hardness by binding with the carbon of the base material is used and is padded in one layer on said base material. The padding is accomplished in deep penetration so that the wall thickness H of deposited metal attains <=7mm. and the depth of penetration to the base material metal attains P>=1.5H. The composite cast iron member having resistance to abrasion, high strength and high toughness is thus produced easily. |
