PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and efficiently use an image forming apparatus connected to a network. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus connected to a network is provided with an NVRAM 21 wherein the ID of terminal units capable of using the image forming apparatus is registered. When printing command is received, reference to the ID is made, and, if the command is issued from an unregistered terminal, the response indicating the unregistered terminal is replied. Further, the remaining quantity of consumable goods is detected, and, in the case where printing is hardly performed even using the remaining quantity, data are transferred to another printing unit on the network. Furthermore, image data received are stored in the NVRAM 21 mounted to a process cartridge 14, and, when an error occurs, the NVRAM is mounted to another image forming apparatus, and the image data are outputted from the same. |
