PURPOSE:To correct a misprinted image, by a method wherein a correction transfer ribbon is located at a recording position, and a misprinted image is lifted off in the condition wherein a heating part of a thermal head is enlarged in width and the heating capacity per unit area is increased. CONSTITUTION:When performing normal transfer recording on a recording paper 13, a ribbon selector 14 is controllably rotated, and a cassette 5 is maintained in a horizontal state. When misprinting is generated, the ribbon selector 14 is controllably rotated, and the cassette 5 is maintained in a slant state. The correction transfer ribbon 7 is opposed to the heating part of the thermal head 4, and a take-up driving force is given only to the ribbon 7, thereby performing a desired lift-off operation. Of the heating part of the head 4, resistance heating elements 4a in a hatched width W1 are used in normal recording, while all resistance heating elements 4a in a width W2 are used in correcting the misprint. A voltage supplied to each of the elements 4a is increased in correcting the misprint as compared with that in normal recording, whereby heat is generated with high power only at the time of correction. |
