Process for treating marine phanerogams and the products obtained: proteins, alginates, cellulose, peats, industrial fillers and marine peats. The process permits, after removal of macro-waste and washing, heating of the plants with hot water, steam or other means; the following are obtained after trituration and pressing: 1. Liquid phase: protein products, 2. Solid phase: a product to be purified or to be used as it is, marine peats, raw materials for industrial fillers or insulators. After thorough rinsing to prepare for the extraction of alginates, the plants are mixed with basic deionised water. After stirring, there is obtained, on the one hand, a solution of alginates, and, on the other hand, of cellulose which can be directly used, or after purification, for paper pulp for example, after bleaching.
