Lighting device for lighting a live subject, a still life, a scenery or a floor for taking photographic, cinematographic or other shots. Said device comprises two panels (6, 14) for the light rays, which panels are arranged one after the other in the vertical direction and each comprising at least one light source and one surface for reflecting the light rays. At least one of said light elements is pivotally mounted about a horizontal axis carried by the frame of the assembly. However, it is secured by means maintaining said element in any desired angular position with respect to the other lighting element. Preferably, the lighting elements (6, 14) are both pivotally mounted about two parallel horizontal neighbouring rods (11, 19) carried by the fixed frame. This device provides a large lighting surface which is capable of emitting light rays directed in different orientations to converge towards the subject to be lit.
