This jack comprises a body 1, a rod 4, a piston 5 and ports for the admission 8 and removal 13 of pressurised fluid, and is characterised in that the piston 5 includes a bore 9 inside which a main sliding piece 10 can move between two extreme positions and means for applying the said fluid to one of the end faces of the sliding piece 10 during all or some of the stroke in one direction of the rod 4 and to the other end face at the end of the said stroke so as to move the rod in the other direction during all or some of the return stroke and once again reverse the application of the fluid to the main sliding piece 10, and so on. Application to the generating of mechanical reciprocating movements of specific frequency and amplitude. <IMAGE>
