ORIENTED MOLDED PRODUCT OF BLEND OF PARA-AMIDE/METHA-AMIDE WHICH CAN BE-PULPED

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject shaped article suitable for producing a para- aramid pulp by blending a specific para-aramid/meta-aramid in a specified state, orientating and shaping. CONSTITUTION: This shaped article comprises a polymer blend composed of (A) a first polymer phase of a para-aramid polymer having >=3 dl/g inherent viscosity and (B) a second polymer phase of a meta-aramid polymer having >=0.2 dl/g inherent viscosity. The component A constitutes 60-99.8 wt.% of the shaped article. The component B constitutes 0.2-40 wt.% of the shaped article and exists in the component A phase in the form of generally discrete domain shape having a maximum cross-sectional dimension of about 1 micron.
