PURPOSE:To enhance the driving characteristics by determining the transmission capacity on the basis of comparison of the measurement of a specific parameter with the specified reference range value, and by conducting the control of change of the same in the condition lying within a specified range of throttle valve opening. CONSTITUTION:The transmission capacity of a direct coupling clutch Cd for a certain period of time to be carried out from now is determined on the basis of comparison of the measurement of a specific parameter with the specified reference range value, and control for change of the transmission capacity is conducted in the condition lying within a certain range of throttle valve opening to be set according to the car operating condition. Thereby the change control of the transmission capacity can be activated only under the operating condition where the car requires originally the change control of the transmission capacity, and thus locking is provided when throttle valve is fully opened and, further, the function of torque converter T can be utilized when the throttle valve opening is in idling degree, which should lead to obtainment of favorable driving conditions.
