PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of measurement by providing a means for moving an inlet slit and means for driving at least one outlet slit cooperatively with the inlet slit in follow up to the movement of spectra. CONSTITUTION:The respective element spectra deviate from the respective slit positions and the incident light on the slits S2-S5 is the background light of the respective element spectra when the inlet slit S1 is moved. The incident light on S2 is always required to be the light of an internal standard spectrum in order to measure the monitor signal of a light source. The slit S2 for the internal standard spectrum is moved to the position where the internal standard spectrum light enters cooperatively with the movement of S1 for the above- mentioned purpose. The moving quantity of the slit S2 for the internal standard spectrum is determined from the moving quantity of the inlet slit by a slit controller SC. The determined pulse signal is sent from the controller SC to a pulse motor M2 which in turn moves the slit for the internal standard spectrum cooperatively with the inlet slit in such a manner that the internal standard spectrum is entered to said slit at all times.
