A polyester fiber is obtained from a compound containing the component of a dicarboxyl acid, a diol component, formula(I), and formula(II). For a dicarboxyl acid component, terephthalic acid is used, for a diol component, ethylene glycol is used, and in case of the production of a polyester, having such a metal compound EMF as a alkali metal, alkali earth metal1, zinc, manganese, titanium, or cobalt, or the like as a catalyst, carry out the ester exchange reaction at 140 or 240 degree C.
