PURPOSE:To provide a wavelength-tunable mode-locked laser device which is capable of changing oscillation wavelength without changing a repeated frequency by providing an optical delay device which changes the optical path length of a resonator in the resonator. CONSTITUTION:In a ring type wavelength variable mode synchronous laser device which is provided with an optical modulation means 101, which modulates optical loss or phase with a specified frequency, an optical amplification means 102, which amplifies modulated optical pulses, an optical branch means 104, which takes out the optical pulses to the outside, a wavelength variable means 107 which changes a transmission wavelength in a gain spectral width of the optical amplification means 102 and an optical coupling means 105 which couples each of the above means optically and forms a ring type resonator, there is installed an optical delay means 108 which is capable of changing the optical path length of the resonator in the resonator. The optical delay means 108 controls the optical path length of the resonator so that the repeated frequency of the optical modulation means 101 and the optical path length of the resonator may satisfy synchronous mode conditions. It is, therefore, possible to change the oscillation wavelength in the gain spectral width of the optical amplification means. |
