摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to embody uniform high density optical excitation and reduce an expansion angle of an output laser pattern by sand-blasting the side of a rod with a specific grain. CONSTITUTION:When the side of a solid laser rod is sandblasted with an about 25mu grain, a semiconductor laser beam which is incident on the side is uniformly diffused in the rod 1, thereby providing an excitation pattern whose intensity distribution is uniform. The solid laser rod obtained in this manner is combined with an excitating light source by the use of four semiconductor lasers, a totally reflecting mirror 3, an output mirror 4 and a Q switching element if neccessary, thereby providing a side excitation type semiconductor laser excitated solid state laser. The side excitation type semiconductor laser excitation solid laser makes it possible to install a large number of excitating light sources 2 to the solid laser rod 1 and use an enhanced solid laser rod 1 and carry out high output operations since it is possible to increase the input to the solid laser rod of laser beams.
