FOAM MOLDED OBJECT HAVING VOIDS AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a foam molded object enhanced in water retention, air permeability, heat insulating properties, strength, handling properties and root holding properties by specifying a water retention ratio and vol.% and voids in a molded object produced by mutually fusing the surfaces of small pieces of thermoplastic resin foam. CONSTITUTION:Small pieces of thermoplastic resin foam with water retention ratio of 0.1-75vol.% per one small piece are charged in a mold and heated after mold clamping to mutually fuse the surfaces of the small pieces of the foam to obtain a foam molded object having voids of 5-55%. The foam molded object thus obtained is excellent in water retention and air permeability as a plant culturing bed and can achieve good yield and the prevention of root rot and can be easily produced.
