The hoist has an upright frame to carry a basket holding the operator. The base of the frame is carried on a transverse plate (4) that rests on the ground. A conical projection (27) fitted to the base of the plate below the centre of the hoist fits into a complementary hole (31) in the ground. A tapered hole is firstly made in the ground (S) and a rigid sleeve (27) placed in the hole. The sleeve is conical in shape with a short cylindrical extension from the apex of the cone. Lateral skirts (32) rest on the ground surface. The projection at the base of the hoist fits into this sleeve. The projection has a cylindrical extension (30) from the end of its conical region to engage in the corresponding part of the sleeve in the ground.
