<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically discriminate the boundary of a sentence without executing optical character recognition (OCR) by marking a selected connection component as the boundary of a sentence when the selected connection part is a dot type but is not a part of a colon. SOLUTION: A processor 11 determines and executes suitable operation corresponding to each user command by executing an instruction electronically stored in a memory 28 or a floppy disk in a disk drive 22. Namely the processor 11 selects one connection component out of plural connection components in a text for one line and then judges whether the selected connection component expresses a period or not based upon the shape of the connection component. When the selected connection component is a dot type, whether the component expresses a colon or not is judged. When the selected connection component is a dot type but is not a part of a colon, the component is marked as the boundary of a sentence.</p> |
