Production and heat treatment of ductile aluminium@ plate

An Aluminium (Al) plate is produced from an Al-Magnesium (Mg)-Silicon (Si)alloy of the AA6000 type and contains 0.4-1.7 wt.% Si and 0.2-0.9 wt.% Mg. It is suitable for forming into automobile outer panels by hot and/or cold rolling and heat treatment, e.g. by homogenisation and solution treatments, so that gross Si and Mg2Si particles and/or precipitates are prevented from forming.
