A process for producing 2-bromo-5-methoxybenzyl bromide characterized by reacting 3-methylanisole with N-bromosuccinimide in the presence of 2,2'-azobis(isobutyronitrile) to give 3-methoxybenzyl bromide, adding a polar solvent and N-bromosuccinimide to the resultant solution without isolating the reaction product therefrom, and reacting the whole by one-pot reaction. |
