PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-density magnetic recording medium with which low surface electric resistance, electromagnetic conversion characteristics and preservation stability are simultaneously attained without increasing carbon black. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium is constituted by coating the surface of a nonmagnetic base with an intermediate layer contg. at least magnetic powder having Moh's hardness of >=3 and an average grain size of <=0.5μm and/or nonmagnetic powder having Moh's hardness of >=3, carbon black and binder and coating the surface thereof with a magnetic layer as the uppermost layer contg. at least ferromagnetic metallic powder and binder. In such a case, the center line average height (Ra) of the magnetic layer after the magnetic recording medium is subjected to an immersion treatment in an aq. soln. is 10 to 30 nm. |
