The vanes for a wind-powered generator have surfaces (5-7) which are struck by the wind at the front, to rotate in the wind direction. Integrated rain water catch troughs (29-31) reinforce the vanes when it is raining. The horizontal axis (22) is across the wind direction to take the separate vane groups, at 90 deg to each other at axial intervals. Each vane rotates in an upper zone or open to the front, and down into a trough zone at an enclosed angle of 225 deg .
