PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle selector for a jacquard machine capable of miniaturizing a needle selector and reducing a cost by decreasing the number of parts and facilitating a control in a so-called double-acting type in which a couple of two hooks opens and operates one warp. SOLUTION: In this needle selector for a jacquard machine in which a hook selecting element 2 shakable from an engaging position A to hold hooks 20 to an unengaging position B not to hold the hooks 20 is axially supported on an apparatus body 1 to be relatively moved based on the hooks 20 and the hook selecting element 2 is shaken and operated by a band plate-like piezoelectric element 8 bending in the shaking direction of the hook selecting element 2 by application of voltage, the hook selecting element 2 is shaken from the unengaging position B to the engaging position A correspondingly to the bending of the piezoelectric element 8 to one side. On the other hand, the hook selecting element is returned to the unengaging position B by an empty weight and is maintained in the unengaging position by the release of the curved state of the piezoelectric element 8 or bending to the other side.
