PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin-coated metallic pigment giving a coating material, etc., having excellent gloss retention, alkali resistance and storage stability while keeping excellent gloss of a specific metallic pigment. SOLUTION: The objective resin-coated metallic pigment is produced by using a metallic pigment produced by disintegrating a physically deposited film, dispersing the pigment in an organic solvent, adding (A) at least one kind of substances selected from esters of a radically polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid, phosphoric acid having radically polymerizable double bond, etc., and a specific coupling agent, adding (B) a monomer having >=3 radically polymerizable double bonds and (C) a polymerization initiator and polymerizing the monomers while slowly adding the component B and/or the component C.
