PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a protectant against termite, excellent in safety, stability, preventive effect, residual activity, etc., by including ethoxazole as an active principle. SOLUTION: This protectant against termites is prepared by including (pref. 0.01-90 wt.%, more pref. 0.025-20 wt.%) 5-tert-butyl-2-[2-(2,6-difluorophenyl)-4,5- dihydroxazol-4-yl]phenetol (its common name: ethoxazole) in preparations. The formulation is pref. oil solution, emulsion, or the like. The protectant can be applied to soil or the habitat of termites and can also be applied to the neighborhood of woody objects (e.g. trees, walls, stakes, or the like), buildings (e.g. houses), etc., or soil under the floor to protect them. Further the protectant can be applied to woody products (e.g. plywood, sawed products, or the like) and resin products (e.g. plastic sheet or the like). The application rate is pref. ca. 0.075-12.5 g/m2 in terms of the quantity of an active principle.
