PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an opening-closing system for gas meters which is capable of easily open and/or close a gas meter, without failure. SOLUTION: An opening-closing system for gas meters comprises a gas meter 4 for measuring the quantity of a gas fed to a gas apparatus, a meter controller 2 for preparing work data for opening and/or closing the gas meter 4, a portable operating unit 6 for opening and/or closing the gas meter 4. Work data prepared by the gas controller 2 are transmitted to the portable operating unit 6, at least a part of the work data sent to this unit 6 is transmitted to the gas meter 4, thus opening and/or closing the gas meter 4, based on the data transmitted from the opening unit 6 to the gas meter 4.
