An apparatus for automatically programming information associated with a plurality of air and cable television channels. Upon receiving an autoprogramming signal, the apparatus detects analog and digital television signals from each channel to determine whether the associated air or cable channel is digital or analog. The apparatus stores information associated with the each channel into a memory unit. The results of all channels are displayed as a channel scanning list on an output device or monitor. A method for processing a plurality of air and cable television channels is also provided. The method selects a channel, receives an analog or digital signal associated with the selected channel, determines whether the channel is analog or digital, stores the result and repeats the steps until all channels have been selected. Additionally, a computer readable medium that stores a software program is provided. This program, when executed by a computer, causes the computer to perform the method embodied in the invention. |
