摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a high utilization factor of an active material even if the added quantity of Co or a carbon material is small and charging/discharging are repeated over a long period on specific conditions by containing tin oxide fibers in nickel hydroxide serving as a positive electrode active material. SOLUTION: A polypropylene cylinder container is used as a test battery cell, and terminals of a positive electrode, a nickel plate counter electrode, and a silver/silver oxide reference electrode are fixed to a screw lid. Lithium hydroxide is saturated in a potassium hydroxide aqueous solution having the concentration of 35% for use as an electrolyte. Stannous chloride, metal tin, and antimony chloride are dissolved in methanol, the mixture is concentrated and spun into gel fibers, then the get fibers are baked and cut off to obtain tin oxide fibers having the average fiber diameter of 27μm and the aspect ratio of 370. The tin oxide fibers, water serving as a solvent, and methyl cellulose are added to nickel hydroxide and cobalt hydroxide and kneaded to obtain a paste, then the paste is filled in a current collector made of nickel foam, and the current collector is dried and compressed to obtain the positive electrode plate.
