摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluating method wherein a transition time from spray alignment to bend alignment can be easily and highly reliably evaluated in an OCB mode liquid crystal cell. SOLUTION: A spray-bend alignment transition time evaluating method is used, wherein a stage for applying voltage to a homogenous cell showing the spray alignment and a stage for monitoring the change of a cell volume against time after applying the voltage are included and the transition time is evaluated by using the type of the curve showing the change of the cell volume against time, the change ratio of the cell volume against time or the intensity of the hysteresis of voltage-volume (C-V) characteristics. Or, a spray-bend alignment transition time evaluating method is used, wherein the transition time is evaluated by using a time needed for the cell to be transited from a bend alignment state formed by applying the voltage to a spray alignment state formed by decreasing the voltage.
