PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring jig and a measuring method which can stably and highly accurately measure the face-to-face distance between the opening part for the door of a vehicle and the door. SOLUTION: The measuring jig 10 is provided with a mounting member 11 to be detachably mounted on the flange 1b of the body 1, a shaft-like first measuring member 12 integrated with the mounting member 11, and a second measuring member 21 fitted in friction onto the first measuring member 12 movably in eth axial direction thereof. Elastically pressed fitting parts of both the measuring members 12 and 21 are made to have a concavoconvex structure 14, and the second measuring member 21 protruded by a specified length from the first measuring member 12 is retracted by a pitch each of the concavoconvex array 14 to the side of the first measuring member 12 by pressing it with the door 2 closed against a body opening part 1a. At this point, the degree of the retraction is measured from the pitches of the concavoconvex array 14 to accomplish indirect measurement of the face-to-face dimension between the body 1 and the door 2.
