DETOXIFYING SYSTEM FOR GASEOUS AMMONIA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new detoxifying system which subjects the ammonia refrigerant leaking from a refrigerator unit of refrigerating and air conditioning equipment to neutralization and detoxifying treatment by carbon dioxide and water. SOLUTION: This detoxifying system 1 for gaseous ammonia consists in subjecting the gaseous ammonia leaking from the refrigerator unit 2 of the refrigerating and air conditioning equipment to harmless treatment when the ammonia is applied as the refrigerant of the equipment to the detoxification by introducing the gaseous ammonia to a hermetic space of a scrubber 3, etc. before releasing the gas into the atmospheric air and reacting the carbon dioxide and water to form the salt of ammonium carbonate and ammonium hydrogen carbonate.
