PURPOSE: A check managing apparatus and operating method thereof is provided, which is capable of minimizing a necessary labor by processing all management steps from an issuing step to a search step. CONSTITUTION: Blank sensors(181,184) sense whether a check exists at a roller(113) on a transfer path. An optical character recognizing sensor(182) senses a transfer position of a check on the transfer path to recognize an OCR code. A position sensor(183) guides printing of information corresponding to the check. A set sensor(185) senses issued checks to count an issued check number. An end sensor(186) senses checks transferred after counting and makes the checks output to an outlet table(112). A scanner(190) recognizes the OCR code of the check, and a printer(200) prints corresponding information according to recognition of the inherent information. An auxiliary controller(210) controls a system for issuing a check.
