PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing type portable information terminal that enhances the convenience where viewing of a display section is available while a display section case and an operation section case are closed. SOLUTION: In the opening/closing type portable telephone set provided with the display section case 1 having a display section 3 and with the operation section case 2 having an operation section 5, a connection member 7 connects the end of the display section case 1 to the end of the operation section case 2 while a display section face of the display section case 1 is directed the same as the direction of the operation section face of the operation section case 2 and the display section case 1 and the operation section case are configured turnably around a turning axis of the connection member 7.
