PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a breakdown caused by shaving of a web-edge part and a blocking breakdown in heat treatment of a succeeding process. SOLUTION: At least an exfoliation layer A is formed on the part with which an extruded part H of undercoat layer on the back of a web W comes in contact so that the extruded part H of undercoat layer doesn't adhere to the back of the web W. By this, the shaving of the web-edge part M, which occurs when the web W is coated with a magnetic liquid, is prevented by the extruded part H of undercoat layer, and furthermore the blocking breakdown is prevented, since the exfoliation layer A prevents the extruded part H of undercoat layer from adhering to the back of the web W when a magnetic recording medium, after manufactured, is made into a roll and then subjected to heat treatment.
