PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly detect correspondent points in a short time in a matching device for detecting a point corresponding to the instructed point of one image from the other image. SOLUTION: An instructed point P0 is selected in a first image A0. A projection drawing in a second image B0 of a correspondent line L1 as a straight line through the instructed point P0 is found. As an optimal search pixel, four pixels are selected so that a change can become great as much as possible in four pixels positioned around the instructed point P0 and the pixel of the instructed point P0. The peripheral pixels of candidate points in the same position relation as an optimal search pixel corresponding to the instructed point while being positioned around the candidate point on the correspondent line L1 are found. A candidate point, with which an error between each of the respective pixel values of the instructed point P0 and the optimal search pixel and each of the respective pixel values of the candidate points and the peripheral pixels of candidate points can be minimum, is found as an instructed point Q0.
