PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical device capable of raising the arranging precision of an optical part by suppressing the deformation of an optical box and a lid, and of electrically grounding the lid to a body frame easily at an arbitrary position. SOLUTION: In the scanning optical device, the resin optical box 1 storing a laser light source unit, a rotary polygon mirror, a driving motor and a deflection scanning lens are sealed with the lid 2 made of a metal plate, and the optical box 1 is mounted to the body frame 6 made of the metal plate. The lid 2 is electrically grounded to the body frame 6 via an earth spring 15 in a U-shape.
