PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide composite wall membrane coated microcapsules each having a uniform defect-free thick outer wall membrane. SOLUTION: An outer wall membrane comprising a compound which is (a) soluble or dispersible in an acidic or alkaline dispersion medium and (b) accumulates electric charges whose polarity is reverse to that of electric charges of an inner wall membrane made of a heat resistant synthetic resin when dissolved or dispersed in the dispersion medium is formed on the inner wall membrane.
