Double-action cylinders (1.1, 1.2) are powered by a pump (5). They are controlled by spring-loaded electromagnetic valves (11, 12). Hydraulically-served NRVs (13, 14) lock the cylinders in position, under load. The stippled enclosure (A) is a one-piece block (20) containing the feed and return channels (21, 24) and channels (23, 26) serving the valves (11, 12). A second one-piece housing (30) contains the components enclosed by the stippled line (B). Connecting ports (31, 32, 33, 34) are bored in it. Valve moving parts are with advantage mounted directly in borings in the blocks rather than as separate cartridges.
