A high pressure discharge lamp and a high pressure discharge lamp device is provided to suppress evaporation of Hg sealed in a luminous tube by forming a bulge on inner side of an external tube and on outside of a luminous tube. A pair of electrodes is faced each other, and Hg is sealed in a luminous tube(2). The outer tube(3) of the straight pipe shape is molded at the outer side of the luminous tube, and the external tube is fixed at the both ends of the luminous tube. An uneven part(15) is formed on the external surface of luminous tube or on internal surface of the external tube. The uneven part is formed by setting up the line of the spiral shape on the internal side of external tube.
