A liquid crystal display and a driving method are provided to improve the picture quality by preventing the line fault. A liquid crystal display(20) comprises a liquid crystal panel(10), a timing controller(30), a gate driver(40), and a data driver(50). The timing controller receives the vertical/horizontal synchronous signal and video data signal from the video card. The gate driver successively produces the gate high voltages by using the first control signal(GSP,GSC,GOE etc). The data driver receives the red, green, and blue data signals and the second controlling signal(SSP,SSC,SOE,POL etc) from the timing controller. The data driver comprises a shift register, a latch unit, a digital analog converter, a buffer part, and an SOE signal control unit.
