PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method generating a lookup table capable of recording a high quality image without causing any uneven gloss in the image.SOLUTION: A temporary LUT(color separation table) and a lattice point limit value stored in a hard disk are read. The total value of ink signals of the temporary LUT at the lattice point is compared with the lattice point limit value. If the lattice point limit value goes above the total value of ink signals, a determination is made that the ink signal value (amount of ink) does not cause deterioration of glossiness nor useless ink consumption, and the value of temporary LUT is stored, as it is, in the lattice point as the ink signal of LUT after limitation. If the total value of signal value of temporary LUT is larger than the lattice point limit value, a determination is made that the lattice point causes deterioration of glossiness or useless ink consumption. The ink signal value of temporary LUT is limited so that the total value of ink signal value of temporary LUT falls within the lattice point limit value. The ink signal value after limitation is stored in a relevant lattice point.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 |
