PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cytotoxicity-alleviating agent which can suppress the side-effect caused by the cytotoxicity of cisplatin, for example, nephropathy by using lithospermic acid B. SOLUTION: This cytotoxicity-alleviating agent contains lithospermic acid B of formula I and/or a salt thereof' represented by formula II (M<2+> is Mg<2+> , K<+> , NH4 <+> , Ca<2+> or the like) as an active ingredient in an amount of 1-30wt.%. Preferably in addition, usual components are properly formulated to give oral preparation and injection preparation. The daily dose of the lithospermic acid B and/or its salt is preferably 10-1,500mg. This cytotoxicity-alleviating agent is suitable for alleviating the renal toxicity of cisplatin, but is further effective for hepatotoxicity, bone marrow toxicity, gastrointestinal toxicity, ototoxicity and the like. |
