PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the formation of a conductive network by setting a composition of a Co compound with which the particle surface of Ni hydroxide is to be coated. SOLUTION: This positive electrode active material is Ni hydroxide particle, for example, Ni0.95 Zn0.05 (OH)2 , whose surface is coated with a layer of Co hydroxide, for example, Co0.08 Al0.2 (OH)2 (SO4 )0.1 . Consequently, a conductive network can easily be formed and the period to leave this battery stand still after battery assembly can be shortened. Moreover, since the Co hydroxide is doped with Al, the Co hydroxide is kept in α-type structure and dissolution of the Co hydroxide in an electrolytic solution is accelerated and the formation of the conductive net work is made easier. Further, oxidation decomposition reaction of the electrolytic solution is suppressed and the high temperature charging efficiency of an electrode for which the active material is used is improved. |
