PURPOSE:To certainly detect the defect of a glass bottle body part over a wider range, by forming ribs contacted with the body upper part and the body lower part of a glass bottle to at least one of press means while supporting at least either one of the press means in a freely swingable manner in the axial direction of the glass bottle. CONSTITUTION:A glass bottle 1 to be inspected is advancing on a straight path by a conveyor 2 and a cylindrical press means 3 and an uneven cylindrical surface shaped press means 4 are provided so as to hold the striaght path therebetween. The press means 4 is attached to the leading end of the piston rod of an air cylinder 6 fixed to a machine stand by a horizontal shaft 8 in a freely swingable manner in the axial direction of the glass bottle 1 by a horizontal shaft 8. On the other hand, ribs 9, 10 contacting with the body upper part and the body lower part of the glass bottle 1 are formed to the peripheral surface of the press means 3 and ribs 11, 12 are also formed to the inner peripheral surface of the press means 4 at the same heights. The press means 4 is pushed out by the air cylinder 6 while the glass bottle 1 is held between the press means 3, 4 to press said bottle 1. |
