PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation apparatus which can achieve suppression of image defect due to transfer contrast insufficiency in a primary transfer part and suppression of degradation of a secondary transfer outer roller with electrification.SOLUTION: In an image formation apparatus, in a case where the apparatus has such a configuration that transfer contrast required for primary transfer is secured by maintaining the electric potential of an intermediate transfer belt equal to or greater than a Zener voltage, a secondary transfer bias before correction is set to be a low voltage (S4), a current value flowing in a Zener diode is detected while a margin area of a recording material passes through the secondary transfer part (S6) for correcting the secondary transfer bias (S10) in accordance with the detection result of the current flowing in the Zener diode (S9), with this, a slight variation in a resistance value of the recording material can be correctly recognized and correction of the secondary transfer bias can be properly performed at the proper timing, or it can be made difficult for the electric potential of the intermediate transfer belt to be reduced to less than the Zener voltage even if the resistance value of the recording material varies in a case where the secondary transfer bias is low.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
