PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain further reduction in a bit rate, without generating the adverse influence of data compression. SOLUTION: A parallax information detector 2 specifies an input sub-image block with the maximum correlation with an objective block for each input main image block by using a block in a constant size constituted of the preliminarily decided number of pixels as a unit, and generates a deviation value between the two blocks in a screen in which the input main and sub-images are overlapped as parallax information. A quantizer 4 quantizes difference data between the parallax information and the predicted parallax information of any input main picture block timely preceding to the input main picture block, and adjacent to the input main image block on the screen of a main image. The quantized parallax difference information is encoded by a parallax difference information encoder 8. |
