Graft copolymers with desired sequence length distribution are produced by reacting copolyethylene with other comonomers. Copolyethylene is produced in tubular reactor at >500 atm and >100 degrees C in presence of free radical initiators and opt. chain transfer agents. Copolymer is then brought to pressure of 100-350 atm and tempered at 50-200 degrees C, then graft copolymerisation is carried out immediately with addition of other comonomers (pref. vinyl acetate, propionate or chloride acrylic acid, ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate or styrene) and opt. free radical initiators and/or chain transfer agents. - Process eliminates additional stages and does not damage structure of unmodified copolymer. Films are clear and take print well.
