A plate cylinder 1 includes plate-clamping elements 8, 9, each shaped to grip an end of a flexible printing plate with bent-over ends, and one element 8 or 9, or both, is pivotally mounted and is resiliently biased so that its plateengaging end tends to move towards the other element. A cam-bearing shaft 19 can be longitudinally moved so that a cam 17 or 18 engages the biased element and on rotation of the shaft 19 pivots it against the bias. Where both elements 8, 9 are pivotally mounted a second cambearing shaft 24 is provided. Two sets of elements 8, 9 may be mounted end-to-end in one groove in the cylinder 1, each set having separate cams on the shafts 19, 24. By varying the longitudinal positions of the shafts 19, 24 in their containing bores 23, 23a one or both of the sets of elements 8, 9 may be selectively operated. |
