1336728 Multi-colour photographic silver halide material AGFA GEVAERT A G 19 Nov 1970 [22 Nov 1969] 54982/70 Heading G2C A multi-layered colour photographic material for the production of colour images which consist of a yellow, a magenta and a cyan partial image, comprises at least one double layer comprising a highly sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a less sensitive silver halide emulsion layer in which double layer a partial image is to be produced, both emulsion layers containing a colour-forming coupler for the particular partial image, in which the highly sensitive emulsion layer is more sensitive by from 0À1 to 0À6 log I.t units than the less-sensitive emulsion layer and contains a colour-forming coupler for the particular partial image which couples by from 2 to 20 times more rapidly than the colourforming coupler in the less sensitive emulsion layer. The highly sensitive emuslion layer is preferably further from the support than the less sensitive emulsion layer. Other layers may be interposed between the less sensitive and the more highly sensitive emulsion layer of a double layer. The ratio of coupler to silver may be different in the two layers of the double layer. The same coupler may be present in both layers of a double layer but incorporated in different ways in order to give the different coupling rates. Incorporation in an oil-former gives a slower coupling rate than incorporation as an aqueous solution. Coloured colour forming couplers may be used and may be present in a layer either alone or together with a colourless coupler having the same or at least a similar coupling rate. The material has a very high sensitivity and gives colour images of great sharpness and little graininess.
