1,249,612.γ-Cyanobutyraldehyde. STAMICARBON N.V. 3 Feb., 1970 [8 Feb., 1969], No. 5122/70. Heading C2C.γ-Cyanobutyraldehyde is prepared by hydrolysing aγ-cyanobutyraldimine. Preferredγ- cyanobutyraldimines are those having a secondary or tertiary carbon atom bound to the nitrogen such as N-cyclohexyl and N-t-butyl-γ-cyanobutyraldimines. The hydrolysis is preferably carried out by means of a dilute mineral acid. By-products such as cyclohexylamine and t-butylamine are obtained, together with crotonaldehyde, when N-cyclohexylcrotonaldimine is contained in the starting material. |
