<p>The number plate lamp is mounted in a two part plastic housing which clips together with a ratchet fitting. The bottom of the housing has profiled edges which form lips to secure the lamp housing in a hole in the vehicle, with the edge of the lens carrier having a lip to grip the other side of the hole. As the lamp housing is pressed into the hole the outer lips are compressed, securing the other ratchet fitting at the same time. When the lamp is removed for repair etc., the lips move apart releasing the other ratchet, so that the lamp falls apart for easy access. No metal screw fittings or other couplings are required, which would normally seize up over a period. The lamp can be dismantled without any damage.</p> |
